13 years ago today we lost 19 great and brave men. their community will never forget their sacrifice and bravery and a new monument went up for them a few weeks ago and was officially unveiled today. bless them and everything they did on that day, they will never be forgotten.

Old video but I’m from Tennessee I remember when my dad got a “new” work truck from his company and it had a melted side mirror and an ac filter that was straight black full of ash. We took it out and he made sure I thought of the guys that possibly risked their lives using said truck. Pretty sure it was the gatlinburg fires in 2016

Your fire service needs to update your trucks to what we have in Australia...there fully equipped with sprinklers the surround the entire truck in a curtain of water from top to bottom operated inside the cab, there heat proof curtains inside, woollen blankets 1 per passenger... in the event of an entrapment or burn-over your well protected...and our PPE is brilliant, infused with kevlar, nomex its a life saver...I always wear a hood regardless of how hot keep it pulled down to keep cool & up when the time comes, double button and tab close the shirt cuffs, long wool socks or leather sock savers to stop erant flame running up the legs - these few things have stopped some pretty nasty burn injuries...It tough seeing crews go through this...what with taking your tools into the cab, super dangerous
